As a Packers fan, there is no greater game day than when the Packers play the Chicago Bears in Green Bay. And luckily for me, I get a front row seat to all of the action. Here are a few reasons why I considered last night's 55-14 victory over the Bears as my favorite game of the season so far.
1. Salute to Service
The Packers honored veterans all throughout the night but my favorite part was easily the surprise homecoming. Before we took the field, the packers were honoring the family of military members currently serving The announced that the Marine husband of the women on the field was planning on coming home soon but was able to come home early. The Marine came out and surprised her on the field. I love that we won, but I think that moment was the best part of the game. It had me tearing up a little and it was so wonderful to see them reunited. It was a great way to start the game. During the national anthem, which was sung by a veteran, the crowd did a card trick. Each card had two sides and read a special message that was captured from the sky. There's something so magical about hearing our national anthem sung in time with fireworks. I get goosebumps every time. At half time, there was a Skype call from the middle of Lambeau Field to Afghanistan where the troops led us all in the "Go Pack Go" cheer. It was awesome to be able to share game day with them as they are out risking their lives for our country.
2. Biggest Rivalry in the NFL
It is such an amazing experience to be directly in the action of the biggest rivalry in the NFL. The atmosphere at Lambeau is exploding on Packers/Bears game day. Although Packers fans are always enthusiastic, I think it's during this game that Packers fans show the most pride. There's nothing like seeing Bears fans shrink back in their seats after every Green Bay touchdown. It might seem mean, but it kind of gives me a thrill hearing the crowd yell "The Bears Still Suck" after a Chicago touchdown, especially when we've got such a giant lead. I even saw a man wearing a Bears jersey stand up and join in on the cheer. Even Bears fans root for the Pack!
3.Victory
There's nothing like a win but when it's a victory over the Bears, it's even more sweet. A Monday after a Packer win doesn't even seem to have that awful Monday-ness about it. Most people can still be found decked out in their GB gear, talking excitedly about the game.
